Description

1903 Eagle, Exemplary MS66
Tied for Finest Certified

1903 $10 MS66 PCGS. The 1903 Liberty eagle is a great condition rarity in MS66, somewhat surprising considering the mintage was 125,800 pieces, and it is frequently encountered in lower grades. There are only two other MS66 pieces certified -- one at PCGS, another at NGC, and none are finer. We have previously the other PCGS MS66 example (in 2012, which brought $22,325). The present coin is fully detailed throughout, and the lemony-gold color dazzles the eye. A lone mark behind Liberty's eye pedigrees this example. The frosted surfaces are velvet-smooth with intense, cartwheel mint luster that rivals the finest gold coins of any year or denomination. Population: 2 in 66, 0 finer (3/20).(Registry values: N1)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 267V, PCGS# 8752, Greysheet# 9424)

Weight: 16.72 grams
