Description

1838 Reeded Edge Half, GR-6, MS64
High-End Collector Coin

1838 50C Reeded Edge, GR-6, R.3, MS64 PCGS. Above MS64, the 1838 Reeded Edge half dollar is a rarity. This near-Gem remains within the grasp of the average collector but boasts eye appeal that is nearly worthy of a finer grade. The central devices are sharp, although portions of the borders show characteristic weakness. Most of each side displays pale champagne toning over satiny luster, but the borders exhibit deeper golden-orange coloration. Population: 59 in 64 (3 in 64+), 9 finer (5/16).
