Description

1922 Double Eagle, MS66
Conditionally Rare, Top-Graded Example

1922 $20 MS66 PCGS. The 1922 Philadelphia double eagle, unlike the run of plentiful P-mint twenty dollar issues that follow, is a major condition rarity at the Premium Gem grade level. Although nearly 1.4 million coins were struck, PCGS and NGC have certified only 18 MS66 submissions combined, evenly split between the two services with a single Star-designated example at NGC (1/20).

This MS66 representative is phenomenal in every regard. Mint luster swirls radiantly over each side. Clean surfaces glisten with peach-gold color and feature pinpoint-sharp detail on Liberty's face and torch hand. A monumental opportunity for advanced Saint-Gaudens double eagle collectors.
