Description

1909-S VDB Lincoln Cent, MS66 Red
Sought-After Registry Contender

1909-S 1C VDB MS66 Red PCGS. The 1909-S VDB is probably second only to the 1937-D Three-Legged Buffalo nickel in terms of awareness among the noncollecting public, the archetypal in-demand key-date Lincoln cent that sees perennial -- and apparently increasing -- collector demand.

This piece offers bold luster radiating from the orange-gold surfaces. The coin is sharply struck in all areas, with the sole exception of the mintmark, which shows some blobby softness, apparently a late state of this die. While a few trivial dark flecks appear under a loupe, this piece has much to commend itself to the legions of Lincoln cent aficionados. Seldom seen finer.
