The Only Type Two O-Mint Dollar

1855-O G$1 AU58 PCGS. Variety 2. Each operating Mint in the 1850s produced Type Two gold dollars: Philadelphia in 1854 and 1855; New Orleans, Dahlonega, and Charlotte in 1855; and San Francisco in 1856. The New Orleans Mint coined 55,000 of these diminutive gold coins in 1855. This near-Mint example has brilliant light yellow surfaces, nearly full luster, and faint hairlines. Although the LL in DOLLAR and the 8 in the date are weak, all other design elements are bold. Population: 37 in 58, 34 finer (10/14).(Registry values: N1793)
