1860-S Gold Dollar, MS63
Minutely Doubled Mintmark
1860-S G$1 MS63 NGC. Minuscule doubling appears at the lower
left serif of the mintmark. The 1860-S is one of only seven San
Francisco Mint gold dollar issues, from a mintage of only 13,000
coins. That mint produced only 90,000 gold dollars throughout its
history, and survivors are elusive in all grades. This frosty Mint
State piece is exceptional, with brilliant yellow-gold surfaces and
sharp design motifs. Few finer examples are certified. Census: 5 in
63, 5 finer (10/14).(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25CT, PCGS# 7557, Greysheet# 8085)
Weight: 1.67 grams
