1797 Silver Dollar, Noteworthy Choice XF
Attractive 10x6 Stars, B-3, BB-71 Variety

1797 $1 10x6 Stars, Large Letters, B-3, BB-71, R.2, XF45 PCGS. Bowers Die State II with lapped borders to the right-side palm leaves. Steel-gray and golden-brown at the centers join gunmetal-blue shades at the borders. The eagle's breast feathers exhibit moderate wear, but the wing plumage retains much of its initial detail and Liberty's curls are sharply defined. Both sides are refreshingly unabraded save for a small nick on the reverse rim at 4:30. The scarce 1797 dollars are divided into three different die varieties, which differ sufficiently that each receives a separate Guide Book listing. Population: 33 in 45, 38 finer (5/16).
Ex: Fort Worth ANA Signature (Heritage, 3/2010), lot 1175.
