Description

1872-CC 50C WB-101, Die Pair 7, R.4, VF35 NGC. CAC. The mintage of 257,000 pieces was generous by Carson City standards but not in the context of the entire series, with Choice examples such as this VF coin always in short supply for collectors. Pleasing silver-gray surfaces show minor, deeply toned build-up in protected areas of the motifs. Nice definition remains including all letters of LIBERTY visible, albeit with the expected wear at E. Only minor lines and ticks are seen on either side and the rims are sharply defined. Census (all varieties): 6 in 35, 40 finer. CAC: 3 in 35, 9 finer (4/16).
