Description

1875 Trade Dollar, PR67
Delightful Original Toning, Ex: Gardner

1875 T$1 Type Two Reverse PR67 NGC. The 1875 Trade dollar had a low business strike mintage of only 218,200 coins, the lowest P-mint production total and third-lowest of all 17 issues. Only the 1873-CC and 1878-CC had lower mintages. Given the issue's rarity in Mint State, many collectors choose a proof to represent this date. The present remarkable piece ranks among the finest non-Cameos certified. This Superb Gem proof 1875 Trade dollar boasts fully reflective surfaces showing pristine preservation amid wonderful light lilac and sky-blue toning that deepens closer to the border. The top of Liberty's head is a trifle soft, as is typical of proofs struck from this die pair, but the design elements are otherwise crisp. A highly desirable example. Census: 5 in 67, 0 finer (5/16).
