Description

1883-CC Double Eagle, AU58
Frosty Original Luster

1883-CC $20 AU58 NGC. Winter 2-A. Two varieties struck the entire 59,962-piece 1883-CC double eagle mintage -- a great improvement in die life compared to earlier years. This die pair is easily identified by the mintmark position and by two small die chips between obverse stars 8 and 9. While Mint State 1883-CC twenties exist in reasonable quantity, this near-Mint example offers excellent eye appeal and surface quality compared to lower-grade Uncirculated coins. Vibrant orange-gold surfaces retain much of their original mint luster. The strike is sharp and only scattered small ticks dot the open fields.(Registry values: N1793)
