OC-1, Top 30, Repunched Date
1859-S $1 OC-1, R.2, AU50 ANACS. A Top 30 Variety.
Osburn-Cushing Die State a/b. The 18 in the date is repunched
south. The 1859-S is the only San Francisco No Motto issue, and is
a key to a West Coast type coin. The mintage was just 20,000
pieces. Two die marriages exist, distinguished by different date
positions. This lightly toned example displays an impressive amount
of mint luster. The fields are lightly abraded, and the reverse has
a small rim knock at 7:30. Housed in a small-sized holder.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24YZ, PCGS# 6948, Greysheet# 7226)
