Description
1862 Three Dollar Gold, MS61
Elusive, Low-Mintage Issue
1862 $3 MS61 PCGS. The 1862 three dollar gold piece claims a
mintage of just 5,750 pieces, making the issue scarce-to-rare in
all grades today. This pleasing Mint State example exhibits
well-detailed design elements and lustrous surfaces with the
expected number of minor contact marks for the grade. A long, thin
scrape in the left obverse field is the only individually
significant flaw. Faint vertical planchet striations show in the
fields on both sides and some faint clash marks are evident on the
reverse. Population: 7 in 61, 38 finer (5/16).(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25MH, PCGS# 7983, Greysheet# 8635)
