Description

1854 Ten Dollar, MS62
CAC Approved, Conditionally Rare

1854 $10 MS62 PCGS. CAC. Breen-6911. The top of a 1 is misplaced in the dentils below the 8 in the date. The 1854 eagle is a better Philadelphia No Motto issue. The mintage of 54,250 pieces is less than 7% of the 1847. As is the case with all pre-1878 Liberty tens, the 1854 is rare in Mint State. Our auction archives show only three prior appearances of an MS62 example, with none finer. The present butter-gold representative shows minor incompleteness of strike on the stars and the expected number of unimportant marks, but only those on the forehead are worthy of mention. Population: 6 in 62, 3 finer. CAC: 3 in 62, 0 finer (7/19).(Registry values: N4719)
