Description

1911-S Half Eagle, MS64
Stellar Quality for the Grade

1911-S $5 MS64 PCGS. The 1911-S had a mintage of more than 1.4 million coins, but Uncirculated pieces are disproportionately scarce in pleasing condition. Finer than MS63, this issue is rare. Here is a lovely near-Gem that boasts a sharp strike and luminous fields that have rose, mint, and tangerine-gold coloration. There are surprisingly no obvious abrasions, but a loupe shows faint lines in the reverse fields that preclude a Gem designation from PCGS. The 1911-S is rare a sought-after in this grade, and finer pieces are far out of reach for casual collector. This coin will blend in well with a mostly Gem-grade collection. Population: 25 in 64 (1 in 64+), 8 finer (5/16).(Registry values: N7079)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25ZM, PCGS# 8522, Greysheet# 9325)

Weight: 8.36 grams

Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
