Description

Conditionally Scarce 1876 three Cent Nickel, MS65 PCGS

1876 3CN MS65 PCGS. The 1876 Three Cent nickel piece is a difficult coin at the MS65 grade level. Combined PCGS and NGC population figures show just 36 examples certified as MS65, with only nine graded higher (1/05). The specimen we offer here displays a thin veneer of champagne color over fully lustrous surfaces that are well preserved. There are no significant contact marks or unsightly spots. The design elements are generally well struck, though the lines in the middle of the first upright of the III are weak. A small toning spot beneath Liberty's ear serves as a pedigree marker. Population: 23 in 65, 4 finer (1/05).
