Description

1914-S Half Eagle, MS63
20th Century Condition Rarity

1914-S $5 MS63 NGC. The Pratt Indian Head half eagle collector will encounter a challenge in trying to locate a pleasing MS63 example of the 1914-S. A total of 263,000 coins were struck compared to 247,000 pieces at Philadelphia and Denver, but the San Francisco coins are far more elusive in high grades. The relief elements are characteristically sharp, and softly frosted mint luster delicately glistens over each side. This peach-gold half eagle is minimally abraded with elegant eye appeal. Census: 18 in 63, 7 finer (5/16).(Registry values: N4719)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28DW, PCGS# 8529, Greysheet# 9329)

Weight: 8.36 grams

Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
