1877 $3 AU50 PCGS. CAC. When production of circulation-strike three dollar gold pieces resumed in 1877 after a two-year hiatus, the resulting mintage amounted to just 1,468 coins. This attractive example, lightly circulated with ample luster remaining at the margins, is primarily orange-gold with elements of lavender in the faintly marked obverse fields.
