Description

1911 Lincoln Cent, MS67 Red
Rarely Offered So Fine

1911 1C MS67 Red PCGS. Ex: Jerald L. Martin Collection. The 1911 Lincoln cent from the Philadelphia Mint, with a mintage exceeding 100 million pieces, is readily available in all grades. David Lange, in his 2005 treatise The Complete Guide to Lincoln Cents, writes that "... uncirculated coins of this date are more likely than previous P-mint cents to have unattractive toning or spotting. If original rolls exist, they may reflect this slightly lower quality. When gems are found, however, they more often than not have outstanding luster."

The MS67 Red example presented in this lot does indeed display outstanding luster. Sharp design elements complement this attribute, as do the beautifully preserved copper-orange surfaces. In summary, this piece looks as it likely did when it first came off of the press. Population: 16 in 67 (2 in 67+) Red, 1 finer (11/18).
Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 9/2007), lot 329, which realized $21,850.
