Description
1877-S Twenty Dollar, Strong MS62
First-Year Issue
1877-S $20 MS62 PCGS. The Type Three design was introduced
at Philadelphia, Carson City, and San Francisco in 1877, and this
West Coast emission is the most available among them. That is not
to say, however, that examples are plentiful in all grades. Rather,
MS62 coins are scarce and Select representatives are downright
rare. This rose and medium orange-gold double eagle features
unusually strong detail throughout, including the stars and lower
curls. Frosty luster rolls over each side. Field chatter is
unsurprising given the grade. PCGS reports 35 finer submissions
(5/16).(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26B2, PCGS# 8984, Greysheet# 9927)
