Elusive Mint State Example
1844-O $5 MS60 NGC. Variety 2. The 1844-O half eagle claims
a huge mintage of 364,600 pieces, making this issue an available
date and a popular choice with mintmark type specialists. Mint
State examples are very scarce, however, as few pieces were saved
by collectors. This impressive Mint State example is well-detailed
and lustrous, with vivid orange-gold surfaces and highlights of
