Description

1883-CC Double Eagle, Choice AU
Pleasing Color and Surfaces

1883-CC $20 AU55 NGC. Variety 2-A. The 1883-CC is surprisingly available for a Carson City double eagle from the 1880s. The mintage of 59,962 pieces suggests many pieces left the country for foreign hoards and later returned into collector hands. This Choice About Uncirculated example retains much mint luster while the surfaces are far less bagmarked and abraded than usually seen at the grade level. Attractive sun-gold color adds to the appeal.(Registry values: N1793)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26BH, PCGS# 8999, Greysheet# 9937)
