Description

1928 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle, MS67
Impressive, High-Grade Example

1928 $20 MS67 PCGS. Many high-grade examples exist from this well-produced issue, although perhaps not as many as the massive mintage of 8.8 million coins might suggest. At the current Superb Gem level, however, even this common date becomes scarce, and to date none have been rated any higher than MS67 by either of the major services.

This exceptional example combines splendid technical merit with outstanding visual appeal to leave no doubt that it is, indeed, a Superb specimen. A bold strike provides full details on each side, and sumptuous mint luster illuminates clean, well-preserved surfaces adorned by a beautiful mixture of mint-green and peach coloration. As implied by the grade, surface marks or flaws of any kind are absolutely minimal. Population: 85 in 67 (3 in 67+), 0 finer (5/16).(Registry values: N4719)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26GK, PCGS# 9189, Greysheet# 10151)
