Description

Remarkably Toned, Superb Proof 1892 Barber Half Dollar

1892 50C PR68 PCGS. The 1892 has an enduring popularity with collectors as the first year of issue for the Barber series, and it is also one of the most available dates due to extensive hoarding. This is an obviously original and untampered-with coin that has deeply reflective fields beneath multiple layers of toning. Each side exhibits similar toning patterns with dominant sea-green and purple-rose colors. Although the patina is rather deep in hue, it does nothing to obscure the underlying flash of the highly reflective fields. A remarkably well preserved Superb Proof and one of the finest thus far certified. Population: 4 in 68, 0 finer (1/05).
