Description
1843-C Two and a Half, AU58
Large Date, Plain 4
1843-C $2 1/2 Large Date, Plain 4, AU58 NGC. Variety 1. The
Large and Small Date varieties divide a low mintage of 23,076
pieces. The Large Date is the more collectible of the two
logotypes, but it is nonetheless rare at the near-Mint level. This
caramel-gold example displays impressive luster, and is smooth
aside from a single diagonal line before the O in OF. Peripheral
elements are bold, though the central reverse shows incompleteness
typical for the remote facility. Census: 23 in 58, 16 finer
(7/19).From The Pelican Collection. (Registry values: P2)
Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25GN, PCGS# 7728, Greysheet# 8341)
Weight: 4.18 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
