Description

1940-S Half Dollar, MS67
Registry-Grade Quality

1940-S 50C MS67 PCGS. The 1940-S Walker is available in the absolute sense, but Registry Set collectors and other enthusiasts seeking a top-grade Superb Gem will encounter a significant challenge. Only two dozen Superb Gems are reported at PCGS and NGC combined, and none are finer than MS67+ (6/16). This is a date that most high-ranking PCGS Registry sets actually lack in Superb Gem condition.

The present example displays an impressively bold strike and satiny luster with clean fields. A hidden graze on Liberty's torso is literally the only detectable abrasion. A halo of russet and gold toning surrounds the borders, leaving the interiors ivory-white. Eye appeal is expectedly strong. Population: 13 in 67 (3 in 67+), 0 finer (6/16).(Registry values: N2998)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24S2, PCGS# 6610, Greysheet# 6742)
