Description

1911-D Ten Dollar, MS63
Sought-After Key Date
Seldom Offered This Fine

1911-D $10 MS63 NGC. Ten dollar gold coin production at the Denver Mint began on April 26, 1911. By the time officials at that facility were through, only 30,100 pieces had been struck -- a total that stands as the lowest among regular issues in the series. Consequently, the 1911-D is a highly sought-after date, but like many Saint-Gaudens eagles it is scarce in high grades. Any Uncirculated representative would hold a special place in a complete set. This Select Uncirculated example would certainly be a highlight.

Full strike detail occurs on Liberty's forecurls and the two lowest headdress feathers. Detail is similarly sharp on the reverse, the sole exception being the tip of the eagle's wing. Warm golden-yellow surfaces are awash in satin mint luster and display clean fields with just a couple of ticks on the portrait.(Registry values: N4719)
