Description

1849-D Gold Dollar, AU55
Rich Patina, Winter 1-B

1849-D G$1 AU55 PCGS. Winter 1-B. This is a less often seen variety, showing the mintmark centered between the ribbon ends with a spindly die crack running through it. The current coin displays rich lemon-gold patina with remnants of satiny luster in the fields. The strike is bold, and minor softness on the hair curls is attributed to light high-point wear.
