Panama-Pacific Gold Commemorative

1915-S $2 1/2 Panama-Pacific Quarter Eagle MS67 PCGS. Following two failed attempts by the French government in 1881 and 1894, the United States began construction of the Panama Canal in 1904, and completed the project 10 years later. Completion provided the perfect opportunity to celebrate, and the Panama-Pacific International Exposition was held in San Francisco in 1915. A series of coins were issued, including this quarter eagle. This lovely Superb Gem, tied for the finest certified, exhibits frosty yellow-gold luster and pristine surfaces.
