1798 1C First Hair Style, S-161, B-22, R.2, MS62 Brown PCGS. Ex: Naftzger. Breen Die State IX, with spectacular reverse die failure above STATES. A full break has occurred above TE and a retained cud extends over the TA. This impressive copper is tied for third finest Sheldon-161. Significant faded mint red is apparent in the fields, complementing the glossy surfaces and burgundy-brown toning over much of each side. The Liberty portrait and wreath exhibit strong definition. The Clapp plate coin. The reverse is plated in Penny Whimsy. Population (First Hair Style, all varieties): 8 in 62 Brown (1 in 62+), 10 finer.
