Description

1852 Dime, MS66
Beautifully Preserved

1852 10C MS66 PCGS. CAC. Fortin-108, R.3. More than 1.5 million 1852 dimes were struck, though a number were likely melted for their bullion early on, due to an upset in the gold-to-silver value ratio brought on by large amounts of gold coming in from California. Survivors grading as high as this Premium Gem are rare, with finer pieces exceedingly so. Gold-tinted pastel hues warm the frosty, nearly perfect surfaces, with overall boldly impressed design elements. Population: 4 in 66 (1 in 66+), 3 finer (4/14).(Registry values: N1)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 238N, PCGS# 4597, Greysheet# 4043)

Weight: 2.67 grams

Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
