Description

1928 Hawaiian Sesquicentennial Half, MS65
Lustrous, Lavender Accents

1928 50C Hawaiian MS65 PCGS. CAC. An aesthetically pleasing Gem, with luminous silver-gray surfaces accented by pleasing tones of gold and lavender. The strike is sharp except for a touch of softness on Captain Cook's most prominent curls. The warrior chief is bold with well-detailed regalia and unabraded legs. The entire production process of the Hawaiian halves was a model of success -- free of the shenanigans and boondoggles that characterized many commemorative issues. Not many pieces were minted (under 10,000 for distribution) but they were all sold and most were purchased by an appreciative audience of local residents and collectors.(Registry values: N2998)
