1787 Miller 32.7-X.1 Connecticut Copper, VF25
From the Frederick Taylor Collection
1787 Connecticut, Draped Bust Left, M. 32.7-X.1, W-3270, R.5,
VF25 NGC. 128.4 grains. Obverse die 32.7 is known with reverse
die X.1. Reverse die X.1 is known with obverse dies 30, 32.2, and
32.7. A possible Condition Census example of Miller 32.7-X.1, a
variety that was not included in the Norweb, Martin, or Newman
collections. Rated R.5 today, this variety was called High R.6 in
the Taylor catalog. Robert Martin recorded just over 30 appearances
in his notebook, consistent with the current rarity rating.
Golden-brown and steel surfaces show slight roughness consistent
with the grade. Minor planchet flaws appear on both sides of this
important piece. Listed on page 66 of the 2021 Guide
