Description

1801 Draped Bust Half Dollar, XF45
Popular O-101, T-2 Variety

1801 50C O-101, T-2, R.3, XF45 NGC. The base of the first A in AMERICA does not touch the wing feathers, identifying the O-101 variety. Half dollar production resumed in 1801 after a four year hiatus, with a mintage of 30,289 pieces. Only two die varieties are known for the date, with the O-101 being slightly more available than O-102. This lightly worn Choice XF specimen exhibits pleasing dove-gray surfaces that are minimally abraded for the grade.
