Description
1899 Liberty Twenty, MS65
Rare in Finer Grades
1899 $20 MS65 NGC. The issue produced more than 1.6 million
pieces, yielding a plentiful supply through Gem grades, but finer
pieces are conditionally rare with only three numerically finer
non-Prooflike pieces per NGC and PCGS, combined (6/25). From the
final issue of the 1800s, this double eagle displays bright,
glimmering satin on vibrant orange-gold surfaces that produce an
attractive cartwheel effect. The strike is outstanding and shows
sharp details on the devices. A loupe shows minor roughness on
Liberty's cheek, with the fields exhibiting only light abrasions
consistent with the grade.(Registry values: N4719)From The Mark George Collection.
