1858-O $10 AU55 NGC. Variety 1. A pre-Civil War New Orleans
issue from the period during which the Southern branch mint struck
only limited quantities of high-denomination gold. Only 20,000
pieces were produced, and high-grade survivors are scarce. This
Choice AU representative displays pleasing detail with areas of
prooflike mirroring in the fields. Light friction in the usual
places limits the grade. Census: 46 in 55 (1 in 55+ ★ ), 48
