Description

1880-CC Ten Dollar, AU55
Low Survival Rate in Better Grades

1880-CC $10 AU55 NGC. Variety 1-B. The fletching points to the second C in the mintmark, and a die line crosses the upper serifs of (T)EN. The 1880-CC has a small mintage of 11,190 coins, and only 175 to 300 pieces are believed extant. The issue becomes very scarce in mid-AU grades and rare in near-Mint or finer. Strongly struck devices, partial luster, and rich khaki and copper-gold surfaces define this pleasing eagle. Shallow abrasions are undistracting.(Registry values: N1793)
