Description

1936-D Cent, MS68 Red
The Sole Finest at PCGS

1936-D 1C MS68 Red PCGS. Ex: Whispering Pines. Presented here is the sole finest 1936-D Lincoln cent at PCGS, which many collectors might consider the finest example of the date known, or at least vying for that distinction. NGC reports four additional coins in this grade, two of which have appeared in our auctions years ago. Aside from those two NGC pieces we previously handled, no 1936-D cent in MS68 Red has appeared at auction. The Whispering Pines piece makes history for the advanced Registry Set collector.

Essentially flawless copper-orange surfaces yield luminous satin luster and a bold strike, with little die erosion or any form of distraction. The faintest variations in color spread throughout each side. Population: 1 in 68 Red, 0 finer (11/24).(Registry values: N1793)
