Description

1882-CC Half Eagle, Lustrous AU55

1882-CC $5 AU55 NGC. CAC. Variety 1-A. The 1882-CC half eagle had a moderate mintage (for a Carson City issue) of more than 82,000 coins, and while circulated examples are encountered with some frequency, Mint State pieces are few and far between. This Choice About Uncirculated example exhibits only a brush of wear over the high points of each side, with substantial mint luster remaining in the recesses. Warm yellow-gold color and a lack of noticeable surface abrasions give this Carson City gold piece a pleasing degree of eye appeal.(Registry values: P3)
