1845-D Quarter Eagle, AU58
Well-Preserved and Attractive Surfaces

1845-D $2 1/2 AU58 PCGS. Variety 6-I. Of the 150-175 pieces known in all grades of the 1845-D quarter eagle, only 28-32 examples are believed extant in the AU grade range. This coin has remarkably bright, semireflective fields on each side. The central details on each side are a bit softly defined, and the yellow-gold surfaces have taken on a pronounced accent of red over the high points. Minimally marked for the issue.
