Description

1845-O Half Eagle, MS62
Bold Strike, CAC Approval
Among the Finest We Have Seen

1845-O $5 MS62 PCGS. CAC. Variety 1. The only known die pair, offered here in an early die state with the 18 clearly repunched and distinct raised die lines in the narrow space between the tops of AMERICA and the border. While 41,000 1845-O half eagles were struck, PCGS reports just nine Mint State submissions for this issue, all in grades of MS61, 62, and 63.

This brilliant yellow-gold example features a bold strike and satiny mint luster. Scattered grade-limiting marks are mostly visible only with magnification, and they fail to diminish the excellent eye appeal. We have handled only a single finer example of the 1845-O in nearly 30 years. Population: 4 in 62, 2 finer. CAC: 3 in 62, 1 finer (10/21).
