Description
Fully Struck MS66 1853 Gold Dollar
1853 G$1 MS66 PCGS. Potent luster illuminates this needle-sharp sun-gold Premium Gem type coin. Careful rotation beneath a loupe reveals only a couple of delicate grazes. 1853 was the peak year of production for the gold dollar, since it was needed in commerce to substitute for hoarded old tenor silver coinage. Most certified survivors are in AU55 to MS64 grades. Population: 28 in 66, 11 finer (10/12).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25BU, PCGS# 7521, Greysheet# 8013)
