Description
1914-S Double Eagle, MS66
World War Branch Issue
1914-S $20 MS66 PCGS. Given its mintage of almost 1.5
million pieces, one would expect the 1914-S to be available in Mint
State. That is indeed the case, as thousands of coins have returned
from overseas bank vaults since World War II. But no 1914-S double
eagle has been certified as MS67 or finer by PCGS, and only six
coins have been graded MS66+. Thus, the MS66 grade is the finest
that most ardent collectors can expect to obtain. The present
Premium Gem confirms its status with radiant sun-gold color,
booming luster, and a bold strike. Only a smattering of unimportant
marks are present.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26FU, PCGS# 9166, Greysheet# 10172)
Weight: 33.44 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
