Description
1920 Double Eagle, MS64
Only Collectible Issue of 1920
1920 $20 MS64 PCGS. Lime-green and lemon-yellow hues accent
the orange-gold surfaces of this vibrantly lustrous, near-Gem 1920
double eagle. The mintage of Philadelphia twenties lagged behind
the San Francisco Mint output by a factor of more than 2 to 1, yet
the P-mint double eagles are far more available than the 1920-S,
which were placed in reserve at the Denver Mint and never
distributed. The majority of Philadelphia Mint coins were shipped
abroad in 1926, and they continue to find their way back into
collectors' hands. Oddly, MS64 pieces are reasonably available, but
Gem or finer pieces are extremely rare.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26FY, PCGS# 9170, Greysheet# 10143)
Weight: 33.44 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
