Very Rare in Better Condition

1855 $20 AU58 NGC. Although the 1855 is considered one of the more plentiful Type One issues, AU examples are very scarce and Uncirculated coins are downright rare. NGC and PCGS have each graded 17 finer submissions (5/16), but Doug Winter believes the actual Mint State survival rate ranges from 15 to 20 distinct pieces. Subdued orange-gold color graces surfaces that show a few small abrasions, as usual. Also typical for the date is a crisp strike. Faint traces of luster remains in the hidden areas. A fantastic near-Mint No Motto twenty.(Registry values: N1793)
