Description
1892 Double Eagle, MS61
Only 4,430 Circulation Strikes
1892 $20 MS61 NGC. The Philadelphia Mint Type Three double
eagles include several low-mintage dates, including the 1892 issue
with just 4,430 pieces struck. This is a conditionally scarce
example even at the MS61 grade level, with the low mintage assuring
that no great influx of finer coins is likely to occur. The frosted
surfaces display a natural, orange-gold coloration that deepens at
a few high points. Frosted mint luster radiates from each side to
illuminate a razor-sharp strike. Tiny marks pepper each side as
expected at this grade level. Few pieces are finer. NGC Census: 14
in 61, 19 finer (11/24).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26C5, PCGS# 9019, Greysheet# 9827)
Weight: 33.44 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
