1898-O 50C MS65 PCGS. Unlisted in the Cherrypickers' reference, this Gem 1898-O half dollar exhibits recutting on the 898 of the date, most prominent on the lower loop of the 9. The surfaces display satiny luster that softly glows in the fields. Both sides have light lavender, gold, and amber-orange toning. For a New Orleans issue of this period, the strike is uncommonly sharp, particularly on the eagle's talons and the fletchings. Population: 8 in 65, 5 finer (2/16).(Registry values: N4719)
