Description
Flat Rim MS64 1907 High Relief Twenty
1907 $20 High Relief, Flat Rim MS64 NGC. While the Wire Rim examples of the High Relief double eagle have a strong following today, among Mint employees in 1907, the Flat Rim coins were seen as closer to perfect, since the wire rim on other coins was considered a striking defect. This near-Gem representative shows the ghost of a fin on the right obverse and possibly the lower reverse, but it still meets all criteria for a Flat Rim coin. Warm yellow-gold luster shines through a light layer of patina. Both sides show a handful of small abrasions, of which small marks at Liberty's knee and the rays to her left are the most prominent. Overall, though, this is a highly appealing representative for the grade.(Registry values: N7079)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26F2, PCGS# 9136, Greysheet# 10133)
