1880/79-CC $1 Reverse of 1878, VAM-4, MS65 Prooflike PCGS. A Top 100 Variety. The 80 is clearly punched over 79, a variety discovered in 1964 by Harry Forman. Bowers writes of the 1880-CC, Reverse of 1878: "Coins with significant prooflike surface[s] are very rare." Brilliant, boldly contrasted surfaces show glints of gold. The devices are well-impressed with faint parallel roller marks across the chin and over the ear. Population: 13 in 65 (1 in 65+) Prooflike, 1 finer (11/16).
