Near-Mint Noe-9 Pine Tree Shilling
1652 SHILNG Pine Tree Shilling, Large Planchet AU58 PCGS. Noe-9, R.6. 73.9 grains. This is a later die state of Noe-9 as seen by the recutting of the letters at the top of the obverse. This has the effect of the HV being indistinct and blobby, apparently the metal could not be forced up into the die. The lettering is remarkably well centered on each side, and there is a small clip missing from the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock positions. Slightly wavy, as usually seen, the surfaces are medium gray with slightly lighter accents over the lettering and devices.
