Description

(1670-75) 1/2P St. Patrick Halfpenny VF20 PCGS. This coin has the appearance of being weakly struck, but it shows nice color with a great contrasting brass splasher that half overlaps the crown. Coins like this are part of why a new reference book on this series will be so welcome, since it would be nice to know if the dies had little detail (which would lead to identical weakness on all specimens), or if this is purely the result of weak strike. Either way, this is a choice specimen in a series with a growing collector base. Listed on page 20 of the 2002 Guide Book.
From the David Bruce Collection.
